“Piolhos & Actores” - TEATRO DO BIGODE
There are performances that are seen. Others are felt.
Piolhos & Actores clearly belongs to the second group.
Rios and Solano emerge as two bodies out of time — actors, buffoons, travelers lost between stages sovereignly portrayed by Vitor Emanuel and Guilherme de Bastos Lima — who also takes on the role of Artistic Director.
Photographing the play meant following this constant game between control and chaos. Between the rigor of gesture and the improvisation of the instant. Each image is born from an imbalance: bodies in suspension, exaggerated expressions, silences interrupted by movement. Light, gazes, and rhythm demand constant attention, as if at any second everything could collapse… or transform.
This work was, at the same time, a challenge launched by Guilherme and a “bug” that stayed with me. The desire to return to photographing theater, to once again listen to the stage with my eyes.
Because there are performances that do not end when the lights go out — they continue to ask to be seen again, revisited, recreated in image.
The photographs that accompany this text are fragments of that journey: they do not explain the play, but they preserve its pulse.
